Harsh marking, indeed! (But then again, docking points from myself for laughing at said accidental injury — also wondering what it says about me, the laughing and the enjoying…). Pretty upset about the unattainable crumpets, which apparently are 100% unattainable in the States and I now feel the pressure to perfectly time my next UK visit to coincide with this mysterious availability…
Almost exactly that happened to me once. I got up to use the loo in the middle of the night and woke up on my bathroom floor half an hour later. I had fainted before as a teenager but that time it was everything disappearing from the outside in. This time it was a total blackout. I'd had a vaccination that day but the doctor at the hospital said it was nothing to do with that. But when I saw my neurologist he said it was clear to him it was an immune response to the vaccine. A friend came to stay for a couple of nights to look after me. I had two weeks off work recovering from the concussion.
A few weeks after this a family friend dropped dead while on a bike ride with friends at the age of 84. We all agreed that was the way to go - and me especially as I'd had a little taste of it already. The whole thing really had me examining my own mortality and I did some really deep thinking and reading that year.
Enjoyed it Alice! Hope there is no lasting issues for you! Seems a perfect length and your humour comes through brilliantly! Can't wait for the next one (hastily looks for the crumpets locally) 👍
What picture? What hat ? And I was expecting a motor vehicle accident not a hallway one. I should probably reread before commenting. You know, I think they promised clarity of thought in sobriety. Turns out to be a fib. And was the hat in this - let us assume it's real, just, you know for the sake of this sentence - picture you speak of, but isn't attached, at least not in my feed, but maybe pictures can't be transported over country borders? ... sorry, what I mean to say was the hat on your head (in the picture) kidding your fringe ? I know. Future reference. I am doing this like a rabid bunny happy dizzingly through your posts. Did I say anything or just ramble? Hello? Is there anyone out there ?
Hi Alice, very glad to hear you have recovered, was an entertaining read although obviously not very pleasant for you. Looking forward to the next installment.
What do you mean by telling me about special crumpets I can’t buy for love nor!? Sorry you passed out, baby neck, etc - pleased you have good neighbours, miss being one of them. Yay to more of this xx
This was very traumatic I do hope it was just an overwhelming reaction to your first post and doesn’t happen again. Otherwise blood sweat and tears is too high a price for Substack.
So glad you're here (on substack, but also on earth and not heaven)
Hi Alice, very enjoyable read.. blah blah but all we really want to know is … where you treated by Dr Stud for your concussion? Please say you were .
Excellent first sub, nice length, good grabby subject. 9/10 (minus points for the head trauma). X
Harsh marking for accidental injury. I'm more annoyed by unattainable crumpets

Oh. The picture is at the beginning... ignore all that. My bad. Opps

If you press the play button at the top, you can have this read out aloud....by a very husky American man.
Bit weird.
Great article Alice!

Hope you’re on the mend, Alice. Great first outing.
Enjoyed that. If only you had a reverse Ring doorbell to see if you nailed the landing. Instant subscribe and looking forward to more.
You are brilliant Alice 🩵
Hiiiii! You should watch Nikki's bit on the roast of Justin Beebs! Hope you feel better soon 👌🏽
